Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School vs Shaler Area High School
4 1

Shaler (2-2) dropped its section opener against visiting Central Catholic, 4-1, in a match that was very competitive.

Seniors Joe Soranno and Matt Potock earned Shaler’s victory at No. 1 doubles in three sets.

The No. 2 doubles team of Luke Grunden and Zach Sarnowski nearly captured another victory, but dropped the second and third sets after winning the first in easy fashion.

It is obvious that the doubles teams will be a strength for Shaler this season.

At No. 3 singles, Josh Bens showed great improvement in a second set that saw him jump out to a 3-2 lead before ultimately falling 6-3. Josh gave the Titans a chance to win the match.

Seniors Jake Jashinski and Tanner Bradford continue to battle at No. 1 and 2 singles, where the competition is highest and points are difficult to earn. Both are showing strong leadership skills and team-first mentalities for the Titans.
