The Shaler boys’ tennis team captured an early-season win on Monday when the Titans defeated Gateway, 5-0.
A senior-heavy line-up found success at all positions, as No. 1 singles Jake Jashinski, No. 2 Tanner Bradford and No. 3 Sam Bens won easily. The newly formed No. 1 doubles team of Joe Sorrano & Matt Potock won back-to-back sets and the No. 2 team of Zac Sarnowski & Luke Grunden showed their chemistry in the shutout.
Senior Sean Muenz teamed with newcomer Luke Warren to give the Titans depth at first exhibition.
Joe Powers, Ross Hartley and Austin Franz also made their Titan debuts in the victory.
The Titans proved in their first win that much has changed from last season, when an inexperienced but talented squad struggled to compete in a difficult AAA section. The boys will look to carry the positive momentum into match ups with Vincentian Academy and Hampton later this week.
