Titans News · Shaler area baseball sweeps Char Valley to go 2-0 in section play

The Shaler Area Titans defeated Chartiers Valley 4-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Derek Leas induced a double-play from Zimmerman to finish off the game.

The Titans got things started in the first inning when Gabriel and Rincon doubled. Rincon scored the 2nd run of the inning on a double steal.

Miguel Hugas got the start for the Titans. The pitcher lasted six innings, scattering 6 hits and giving up zero runs while striking out three and walking one.

Shaler Area tallied seven hits in the game. Alec Englemore, Noah Gabriel and Bryan Rincon collected multiple hits for Titans. Shaler also stole 6 bases on their way to a 4-0 victory.

The Titans didn’t commit an error as Campbell and Rincon put on a show up the middle.

Sharp led Chartiers Valley with two hits in three at bats.

The Shaler pitching staff has put up back to back shutouts as they kept Char Valley from scoring a run in all 12 innings.

Friday they are at home against Hampton at 4:00.
