Plum Senior High School
Shaler Area High School
The Shaler Area tennis team dropped its third match, 4-1, to the Plum Mustangs.
After suffering consecutive defeats in which he fought admirably, Sam Bens (6-0, 6-0) broke through in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles. Sam’s maturation continues to be a positive for an inexperienced team. Although his performance was certainly the highlight of the match, there were other positives:
Jake Jashinski showed more improvement at No. 1 singles despite a tough loss to Plum’s top player. Jake pushed the second set to the brink before falling 7-5. The junior newcomer continues to makes great strides every match. He has a bright future at the top position.
No. 2 doubles also lost in tough fashion. After a slow start, Matt Potock and Joe Sorrano had Plum on the brink in the second set. The Mustangs had just enough to push past the pair of juniors in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat.
